God is powerfully moving through the lives of young people and we are so excited to be able to be a part of what God is doing in the lives of the youth and the community. We exist to help youth explore and deepentheir faith in such a way that it empowers them to go out to the world sharing the love of Christ and serving those that often are forgotten. We seek to give high school students (9th-12th grade) the opportunity to grow and experience God together in a variety of different ways including mission and service opportunities, large group events, Sunday morning gatherings, and more.

Sunday Mornings
000_0007
Join senior high students on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15 in the youth room on the lower level as we dig into the Bible and talk about how it relates to our lives today. It’s a great opportunity to hang out with friends, meet new people, and take part in a community that is excited about growing together in faith.

Youth also have the opportunity to worship together before or after our Sunday morning programming at 8:30am or 10:30am.

Serve at Feed My Starving Children
On Saturday, March 27th from 8:30am-11:30am, senior high youth will be serving at Feed My Starving Children in Chanhassen. An average 13,000 children die a day from hunger related death and with the new crisis in Haiti, FMSC is in even greater need for volunteers. We hope that you will consider helping on this day.  Click
here to register online. If you have any questions, contact Erin at the church office.

A Night on the Street
On Friday April 16th, youth from our congregation will be joining nearly 400 teens from over 30 congregations spending the night sleeping in cardboard boxes to raise awareness about teen homelessness at A Night on the Street. Prior to the event, we will be collecting donations for Plymouth Church Neighborhood Foundation. Did you know that $19.56 will provide a day’s worth of supportive services (such as help finding a job, creating a plan to get a high school diploma, or addressing mental health issues) for a homeless youth at Nicollet Square or an adult at Lydia Apartments? Help us make a difference in the lives of young people in need. The event goes from 5:30pm on Friday, April 16th to 8:30am on Saturday, April 17th. Click
here to register online and pick up a collection envelope for donations in the youth room. You can also find a registration and donation envelope in the youth room.

This trip will also include a day of whitewater rafting on the Ocee River. The cost of the trip is $620. Scholarships are available. Click

House Groups Have Started!!
House Groups!!!! What are House Groups? House Groups is a ministry specifically geared towards high school students that are searching for intentional and deeper relationships and are committed to exploring their faith on another level. House Groups will together learn God’s story and their own by forming trusting friendships, praying together, growing together and learning what their gifts are so that they may use them for God’s Glory! House Groups will gather in leaders’ homes every other Sunday evening for a time to share what is going on in their lives, and a discussion that is focused on the video series Nooma by Rob Bell; a pastor at Mars Hill Church in Michigan. Student communities will be developed according to where they live within the metro area! The groups started in October, but it is never to late to join one!! Click
here for a registration. We hope to see you get involved in a House Group!

NOTE: If Sunday evenings do not work for you, a group is meeting at an alternative time on Saturday mornings. Contact Erin for more information.

Donald M. and Eleanor Meisel Scholar Grant: Application Date April 15, 2010

The Donald M. and Eleanor Meisel Scholar Grant is available to students ages 17-26, who are currently enrolled in college and who have a connection to the Westminster Community. The Meisel Scholar Grant Program was conceived in 1988 to encourage young people from Westminster to share their talents, follow their convictions and expand their education outside of the traditional college classroom by participating in volunteer projects, study programs, social action campaigns, and focused travel in the spirit of the church’s Mission Statement. While the Meisel Grant does not pay tuition fees for academic credit, students may also apply to support academic year volunteer projects. Preference is given to undergraduates. Recent high school graduates who will be attending college in the fall may apply. The application date for 2010 summer grants is April 15, 2010. For more information or to discuss your proposal, please contact Barbara Mauk.
